once upon a time on the same side, in the same game…
stuck in my head after a snarky/coy comment someone made about me, but i’m really growing fond of this version of the song. it’s beginning to be a little alarming, how much random music i’ve been consuming recently—for a good year or two i listened to the same three or four artists pretty exclusively (incubus, john mayer, hillsong, and jack johnson)—but it’s good to expand my repertoire, especially as i learn to sing and perform different styles of music; and even if this seems irrelevant to praise band (which is the main reason why i’m pushing myself to try different things), it still contributes to the different-genre immersion i’m trying to keep myself in.
interesting.
similarities
Just now realizing how similar the albums Parachutes (Coldplay) and If Not Now, When? (Incubus) sound. I love it. It’s like the two were meant to be played in sync and meshed together, except they were recorded a decade apart.
This has also been interesting: when I participated in Governor’s School as a visual arts representative back in 2009, my instructor would leave her Parachutes CD on repeat each studio day, which was about 8 hours long, and so this, my only previous experience of college-like art classes, has always repeated itself in my mind to the tracks on that specific album.
And now that I’m taking painting, I find that I’ve naturally drifted back to it. It’s the only thing I can associate this particular CD with, hours and hours of art practice. But it allows me this beautiful peace of mind, three hours of pure thinking, mind left free while hands do the work.
Perfection.
